Jailbreak iOS 6.1.1 (Beta) Untethered Using Evasi0n & RedSn0w iPhone 4, 3gs & iPod Touch 4g

You can jailbreak recently seeded iOS 6.1.1 beta version untethered using the evasi0n but after jailbreaking tethered using redsn0w 6.1.1 jailbreak and then after modifying the systemversion.plist file. Below are the steps that will help you jailbreak iOS 6.1.1 on A4 devices only i.e. iPhone 4, 3gs and iPod Touch 4g. For other devices you already have evasi0n jailbreak which we believe will be equally applicable to jailbreak A5 and A6 devices even on iOS 6.1.1.
Since 6.1.1 is at beta stage at the moment, so this 6.1.1 jailbreak procedure is only helpful for developers who want to test their A4 devices on 6.1.1 beta.
Before starting the 6.1.1 Jailbreak :
- Download Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 from our Jailbreak Download page
- An iPhone 4, 3GS or iPod touch 4 running iOS 6.1.1 beta 1
- iFile to be downloaded from Cydia after tethered jailbreak is done
- Download and save iOS 6.0 IPSW file from our firmware download page, respective to your device.
How to Jailbreak iOS 6.1.1 Tethered
- Connect your iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS or iPod Touch 4 to your computer using USB cable. Open Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 as an administrator and goto Extras => Select IPSW and select the iOS 6.0 ipsw file already downloaded.
- Go back to main redsn0w screen and click Jailbreak put your device in DFU mode when asked and let the jailbreak process complete.
- Since this is a tethered jailbreak boot tethered using the same ipsw file i.e. like in step 1. Now the device is having 6.1.1 Jailbreak but it is tethered and now we will convert this to untethered 6.1.1 jailbreak by using below steps:
Jailbreak iOS 6.1.1 untethered:
- Open Cydia and select to use as user and in the search type OpenSSH and install after which also search and install iFile.
- In iFile browse and go to System/Library/CoreServices, scroll to bottom and tap on SystemVersion.plist to open it with text viewer.
- Now in the .plist file search for “6.1.1″ and tap the Edit button at the top left. Change “6.1.1″ to “6.1″ and tap Save at the top right.
- Go to Cydia and search for evasi0n 6.0-6.1 Untether and install it, after the installation is finished just reboot your iPhone or iPod and now it is having untethered iOS 6.1.1 jailbreak.
- Now again change the version from “6.1″ to 6.1.1 as mentioned above.

Below are the steps to download and install evasi0n ios 6.1 jailbreak, the procedure is very simple and requires to download the file and just run the evasi0n.exe. Only your device should be running iOS 6.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.2, 6.1.1 or 6.1.2. The below mentioned 6.1.2 jailbreak is compatible with all iOS devices except AppleTV 3rd generation.
Update: There were many iphone 4s users facing problem of 3g network i.e slow download speed and connectivity problem, now iOS 6.1.1 is available for iPhone 4s which you can download and jailbreak using evasi0n 1.3 which also rectifies the problem of weather app which was crashing after evasi0n 1.0 jailbreak. How To Jailbreak 6.1.2 Untethered
Step 1: First of all you have to download Evasi0n 1.4 software on your computer and run the program after saving it. You will see below screen of evasi0n software. Connect your device using USB or lightening cable and window will display your device information after recognizing it. If it is compatible with your device it will inform you and Jailbreak button will be enabled.

Step 2: On main evasi0n window click Jailbreak to start the jailbreak process, after a while Evasi0n will give a message to tap a new icon on springboard of your idevice. Unlock the screen and find the icon of new application called “Jailbreak”, just tap it and your jailbreak will continue.
Step 3: After the jailbreak is completed device will reboot, showing the evasi0n logo and various status messages on screen. Cydia 6.1.2 6.0, 6.1 or 6.1.1 is now already installed, just tap the Cydia icon to enjoy the jailbroken device.
On first run the Cydia will take some time and ask for selection whether you are a user or developer, just select user and it will be ready to search jailbroken apps.

Restore from backup if you have already made the backup and start installing Cydia apps, I recommend below tweaks which I found useful for new jailbreakers. You can search all of them in your new Cydia 6.1 app store.

How To Jailbreak 6.1 On iPhone 4, 3GS and iPod Touch 4G

As promised by the jailbreak team the untethered iOS 6.1 jailbreak shall be available to download with effect from Sunday 3 February 2013 for all devices including the latest iPhone 5, iPod Touch 5G and iPad Mini. But if you can not wait few days and you are having iPhone 4, iPhone 3gs or iPod Touch you can still jailbreak 6.1 using the latest version of redsn0w i.e. 0.9.15b3.
Although this is a tethered jailbreak but it works well once installed correctly and boot tethered using the iOS 6.0 firmware, you will need to download the jailbreak software plus the iOS 6.0 firmware for your device because the existing redsn0w 6.1 jailbreak is not updated for 6.1 but it can jailbreak 6.1 using the 6.0 firmware.
Remember this is a tethered jailbreak which is only compatible with iphone 4, 3gs and ipod touch 4g running 6.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.2 or 6.1. It is safe to upgrade to iOS 6.1 if you want because now there are confirmed news that the next generation of iOS 6.1 untethered jailbreak will support all devices.
How To Jailbreak 6.1 on iPhone 4, 3gs & iPod touch
- Download RedSn0w 0.9.15b3 from our jailbreak download page
- Download iOS 6.0 firmware corresponding to your iphone or ipod touch from our iOS firmware download page
- Run the redsn0w 0.9.15b3.exe file as administrator, right click and select run as administrator. Go to Extras => Select IPSW and now browse and select the firmware file which we downloaded in step 2.
- Click back to go to redsn0w main screen and click jailbreak.
- Put your device in DFU mode and click next, or follow the screen instructions to put your iphone or ipod in DFU mode, when asked select “Install Cydia” and click Next. Jailbreak process will complete in few moments and your device will restart.
- Since this is tethered jailbreak you will not find Cydia 6.1 installed on your idevice, you need to boot tethered so that the Cydia can work on jailbroken iOS 6.1.
- Once again go to Extras =>Select IPSW and select the firmware file which we downloaded in step 2 and click Next.
- Now go to main screen and in Extras click Just Boot, put the device in DFU mode and let the booting process complete.
- After the device is rebooted you can see Cydia will be available and now your device is jailbroken on iOS 6.1, but it is tethered, if you need untethered iOS 6.1 jailbreak staty tuned to our blog and join for updates. Below is the step wise guide for redSn0w 6.0.1 Jailbreak download and how to jailbreak iPhone 4, iPhone 3gs, iPod Touch 4g running on iOS 6.0.1 and iOS 6.1 Jailbreak, If you are previous jailbreaker you are aware very well that there is no untethered iOS 6 jailbreak available on the internet. Yesterday only we got an update from iphone dev blog in the form of redsnow 0.9.15b2, there are two good things in this latest update first it is now equipped with Cydia by default and also it is an untethered iOS 6.0 jailbreak.
If you want to jailbreak other devices iphone4s jailbreak, iPad 2/3 jailbreak on iOS 5.1.1 or older version you can follow our Absinthe and RedSn0w Jailbreak tutorials.
Here is the procedure for jailbreaking iphone 4, iphone 3gs and ipod touch 4g using redsn0w 0.9.15b3.
RedSn0w 6.0 Jailbreak Download & Install
Step 1: Download redsnow 0.9.15b3: Windows Mac. Extract the zip file on your desktop or a known folder by default it goes to Download folder which you can access in My Documents.
Step 2: Open the redsnow folder and if in Windows right click redsn0w.exe and click Run As Administrator.
Step 3: You will see the redsn0w main menu with only two options: Jailbreak – Jailbreak and install Cydia and Extras – Everything Else. Click Jailbreak.
Step 4: Now if your device is not connected you have to connect it to your computer using the usb cable. After connecting turn it Off because if it is not turned off you will not be able to click the next button. After your device is Off click Next.
Step 5: Now the redsn0w program will ask you to put your device in DFU mode by pressing the noth home and power buttons in different combinations. If you are confused just follow the screen instructions carefully and don't panic because if you are not able to put your device in DFU mode nothing will happen until you do it successfully and as soon as you pressed the right combination program will automatically detect and go to next step. Step 6: Once the device goes in DFU mode the progress will start on redsnow screen and after a while the program will stop on an option screen just confirm that the check box of Install Cydia is selected and press Next. The remaining part of the installation will be done on your iPhone or ipod and will take about 2 minutes you will see some progress on your device screen and now you can close the Redsn0w screen or you can click back to go to main screen.
Step 7: Your jailbreak is done and if you have iPhone 3gs old bootrom it is now having Cydia which you can start using right away, but if you have jailbroken iPhone 4 or iPod Touch 4g or iPhone 3gs with new boot rom you need to do below step of boot tethered.
Step 8: Boot Tethered RedSn0w 6.0 Jailbreak
Open redsn0w if it is closed and on main screen go to second option Extras => Boot Tethered = Just Follow screen instructions and your device will reboot. Now you can use Cydia.

Cydia is the main app which we use for searching, downloading and installing the jailbreak apps, tweaks, themes and lock screens. Cydia works exactly like the Apple app store, you can say it is an alternate app store for free downloading or purchasing the jailbreak apps.
There is another jailbreak app that gives you access to free apps which are available on app store with some cost, if you want to dosnload paid apps for free you can try Installous. I found this very useful but the negative thing is that it is against the copyright law and infringes the copyright act therefore as an ethical reminder we suggest to purchase the apps that are not much costly and most of them are in the range of $0.99 to $2.99. This is good practice to purchase original apps from app store or Cydia store in order to reward the hardwork of developers and to keep the innovation growing.

This release is 0.9.10 beta 1 version of RedSn0w and very easy to install and jailbreak. If you are having following devices running on iOS 5.0.1 you can jailbreak using your computer. If your device is already jailbroken with older versions of RedSn0w it means it is tethered and needs upgrade.
