Jailbreak iPod Touch 4G iOS 6.0.1 Using RedSn0w 0.9.15b3

If you are willing to jailbreak your ipod touch that has been already updated to the iOS 6.0.1 you can do it using the most famous and reliable iOS jailbreak tool called redsnow. At the moment the only available jailbreak for iOS 6.0.1 on iPod Touch is by iphone dev team in the form of redn0w 0.9.15b3.

Update: You should use Evasi0n iOS 6 Jailbreak to jailbreak iPod Touch 4G which is now latest and more reliable jailbreak solution, Click Here to download evasi0n and jailbreak iPod Touch.

The 6.0.1 jailbreak is stable and working properly without any bugs and errors once installed correctly on your iPod touch. The tutorial to jailbreak ipod touch 4g mentioned below is given step wise and is tested before posting on my site there are minor issues while jailbreaking is in progress which I have addressed at the step it may occur. Many people faced the error of “missing keys.plist” which can be avoided easily by first reading carefully complete jailbreak procedure and watching the video given at the end of this post and then you start your jailbreak process.

In addition to jailbreak ipod touch 4g, you can also jailbreak iphone 4, and iphone 3gs jailbreak using the same 6.0.1 jailbreak procedure, and if you have 3gs old boot-rom your 3gs jailbreak will be untethered 6.0.1 jailbreak.

Important Before You Jailbreak iPod Touch 4G

There are few things which every new jailbreaker must understand i.e. your iPod touch may become unresponsive if the proper jailbreak is failed and you may need to restore it using the iTunes therefore you must take a backup before starting the process to jailbreak ipod touch.

Secondly it is not an untethered ios 6.0.1 jailbreak which means whenever you are required to reboot your iPod Touch you have to do it using the redsn0w, yes you will need a computer each time you need to reboot your iPod Touch. Some time a jailbreak app installation may requires reboot in that case you should read the message carefully before tapping Yes or Reboot. If respring is required it does not matter and not requires tethered booting of your ipod touch 4g.

How To Jailbreak iPod Touch 4G

Jailbreak iPod Touch 4g Step 1:

Download the ipsw firmware file for your ipod touch for iOS 6.0 remember even you are jailbreaking 6.0.1 you will need firmware of 6.0 to jailbreak ipod touch using the Limera1n exploit. Click Here To Download iOS 6.0.

Jailbreak iPod Touch 4g Step 2:

Download Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 or b2 both will work to jailbreak your device. Click the download links for Win Mac. After the file is downloaded extract it preferably on desktop so you can access easily. Open the redsnow folder and run the redsn0w.exe file: in Windows right click and select Run As Administrator and in OS X Mountain Lion, use Ctrl-Click => Open.

Jailbreak iPod Touch 4g Step 3:

Connect your ipod touch to your computer. It is recommended to put your ipod touch in DFU mode at this stage just do as I have mentioned: turn off your ipod and now press and hold both power and Home buttons for 10 seconds and after 10 seconds while holding Home button release power button and keep pressing Home button for further 10 seconds and release it.

Your ipod screen should remain blank at the end and when you will open Redsn0w the status of your ipod touch will be shown in the middle bottom of redsnow window i,e Detected device ipod (DFU Mode). Or you can perform this step later when redsnow will ask you to do these steps. Some people are confused at this stage and their ipod touch either becomes ON or goes in recovery mode, don’t worry just press and hold both buttons for a while and your device will reboot and you can try again.

Jailbreak iPod Touch 4g Step 4:

After the redsn0w program runs you will see the redsnow main window which is showing two options i.e. Jailbreak & Extras. Click Extras => Select IPSW the program will ask you to select ipsw file this is the ios 6.0 firmware file which you downloaded in first step. Browse your computer and locate and select to open. Nothing will happen at this stage only you will see a message that successfully identified with the build number in the message body. Click back to go to main RedSn0w 0.9.15b3 window again.

Jailbreak iPod Touch 4g Step 5

Click Jailbreak to go to next screen, you will see a quick message window saying preparing jailbreak data , patching kernel and then option to select from three options. Just select Install Cydia which is already selected so just click next. If you have already put your ipod touch in DFU mode this step will complete smoothly and install the jailbreak and Cydia for 6.0.1, otherwise you will have to put your device in DFU mode.

You will see some messages on redsnow screen with progress bar followed by some activity on your ipod screen (first matrix text moving up and then RedSn0w icon showing progress for Moving applications) after which the device will reboot at the end.
After reboot if you check the springboard you will not find the Cydia installed this is because you have one step to complete the jailbreak and Cydia installation. The final step is boot tethered your ipod touch. If this was an untethered 6.0.1 jailbreak you would not need this extra step and jailbreak was complete.

Jailbreak iPod Touch 4g Final Step – Boot Tethered

Just complete the steps 3 & 4 and after selecting the 6.0 ipsw file go to Extras => Just Boot, if not in DFU put in DFU and wait until the screen activity is complete and your device reboots. At this stage one may ask why we are selecting 6.0 firmware again but this is required otherwise you will face the error of “missing keys.plist”.
After you have completed the process, you ipod touch 4g is now boot tethered and you will see Cydia installed on your iPod touch 4g. Enjoy.

Jailbreak 5.1.1 iPhone 4s, iPad 2/3/4 iPhone 5

If you are willing to jailbreak other devices like iPhone 4s, iPad 2, iPad 3 running iOS 5.1.1 or older version you can visit our complete jailbreak tutorial index where you can find specific jailbreak guide for your device as per the firmware it is installed. The jailbreak for 5.1.1 is untethered and is perfectly working with no bugs or errors. If above devices are running on 6.0 or 6.0.1 there is no legitimate jailbreak available.

For iPhone 5, iPad Mini and iPad 4 jailbreak still we are waiting because there is only one news that chpwn has jailbroken these devices but that 6.0 or 6.0.1 or 6.1 Jailbreak can not be released for public use and is being used by jailbreak developers only.

It has been almost one week of iOS 6 release and it availability through free upgrade. The iOS 6 downloads have been much more as compared to the previous release i.e. iOS 5 last year. More than 100 million iOS 6 downloads were recorded after its release as reported by Apple recently.

If we analyze the adaptation of iOS 6 it is huge and now people are searching for iOS 6 untethered jailbreak for all devices. There is already iOS 6 jailbreak available for iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4g and iPhone 3GS which is tethered and also not installing Cydia easily by default. If you want to install Cydia after you jailbreak 6.0 you need command line based tool (which is also giving lots of errors visitors are reporting).

Also this is noteworthy that if you want to jailbreak 6.0 iphone 4s, iPhone 5 and iPad 3/2 which are A5 devices there is no tool available to jailbreak 6.0 on these devices.

Jailbreak 6.0 / iOS 6 Untethered

Many jailbreakers have not yet upgraded to iOS 6 due to non availability of iOS 6 untethered jailbreak and still they are waiting for it final release. If we talk about the jailbreakers like pod2g I was disappointed a while ago to see one of his tweet where he says that he is not currently working on iOS 6 jailbreak.

There is one hope that is the Jailbreak Conference WWJC scheduled on 29 September 2012 where we hope some development will be done for iOS 6 untethered jailbreak for all existing devices.

All the famous jailbreakers. developers and hackers are supposed to attend the WWJC and participate with their lectures on different subjects.

Till now I don’t see any big development in order to jailbreak 6.0 or jailbreak iphone 5 on iOS 6 except the one tweet where chpwn showed us the iphone 5 jailbreak pictures. Lets wait and see what comes out on the start of jailbreak conference with in few days.

Development team has updated the iOS 6 jailbreak for goldmaster version which was released for developers yesterday after the Apple event. You can download iOS 6 jailbreak from the jailbreak download links given below.

The final version of iOS 6 will be available for free download on 19 September 2012 for all users. If you are a jailbreaker I suggest to keep away from iOS 6 upgrade and wait if there is iOS 6 jailbreak available or not. Also you may not be able to downgrade from iOS 6 in some basebands. The latest iOS 6 jailbreak is tethered and is only available for iOS 6 beta version and does not provide Cydia. It is intended for developers so that they can develop the jailbreak apps for the use of jailbreak community.

How To Jailbreak iOS 6 Using RedSn0w

From above jailbreak download links download the redsn0w and open Redsn0w 09.13dev4.
Download the iOS 6 firmware from the gm firmware download links and save on your computer.
In main RedSn0w window click Extras => Select iPSW and locate the gm firmware already downloaded
Click Back to come in main window again and click Jailbreak
When asked for options select Install SSH and click Next
Now connect your device and put it in DFU mode by pressing both power and home buttons as per the screen instructions on RedSn0w.
Let the jailbreak process complete.

Since this is an iOS 6 tethered jailbreak you have to boot tethered now:

Go to Redsn0w main window and click Extras and then Just Boot
Put your device in DFU mode and let it complete the reboot process.
Your device is now jailbroken

Remember every time you need to reboot your device you have to boot tethered it as mentioned above.

iPhone5 iOS 6 Jailbreak

The pre orders for iphone5 will start from tomorrow i.e. 14 September and it will be delivered around 19 September. The iphone 5 will be pre-installed with iOS6 and the people who are habitual of using a jailbreak iphone they will immediately need an iPhone5 Jailbreak. I am very much hopeful that dev team will be able to jailbreak iOS 6 as soon as the final version is available for download.

iOS 6 Installation Pre Requisites For Jailbreakers

As most of you know that Apple is going to release the next iOS version i.e. iOS 6 on forthcoming Apple event on 12 September 2012. The release of iOS 6 along with the iPhone 5 release will be a great event and time of excitement for many of us who want to use the new features in the next generation of iOS. Once released the iOS 6 update will be easy and once you are connected with WiFi you will receive the alert that the new iOS firmware version is available and you can easily upgrade to iOS 6.

Save SHSH Blobs

If you are a jailbreaker or unlocker I would like to give you some suggestions so that you would not face any trouble. First of all you have to wait until you make sure that iOS 6 jailbreak is available in the market because if you are jailbreaker you will not enjoy iOS 6 without jailbreak and you may not be able to downgrade from iOS 6 to the previous version. In order to avoid this situation I suggest all of you to save your shsh blobs for the existing firmware so that if you upgrade to iOS 6 and you want to downgrade iOS 6 back you could do it by using the saved blobs.

Use a suitable Cydia tweak like AppBackup to backup your installed apps which easily you can restore later if you downgrade, restore and rejailbreak your device.

Also whenever you want to upgrade to iOS 6 it is better to do it through iTunes and make a backup of your device and all installed apps. In this way when your device will complete the iOS 6 installation it will ask to restore from existing back up or restore as new device so you can get all your apps, photos, notes and images etc.

How To Save iOS 5.1.1 SHSH Blobs Using TinyUmbrella

Creat a new folder on your desktop named saved blobs.

Download the iOS 5.1.1 Firmware For your Device and save in the above folder

Download TinyUmbrella latest version from our jailbreak software download page

Run the TinyUmbrella your device will be automatically displayed there , go to Advance tab in the middle of the window and uncheck “Request SHSH From Cydia”.

Select the save SHSH directory by clicking …

Select your device from left pane and click Save SHSH, now you can see a new file created for your device in the folder you selected in previous step

Save SHSH Blobs in RedSn0w

The next step we need to do is open the RedSn0w 0.9.14b2 and run it, from the main screen go to Extras => SHSH Blobs => Click Stitch => Click IPSW , Now browse and select the firmware file which you downloaded previously. Now in the lower section click Local to stich a local blob file into the IPSW. Browse and select the blob file which you saved using the TinyUmbrella.

After you have selected the local blob file the shsh blobs saving process will start and after few minutes you will receive a message “Blob Stiching Done”

Now this saved blob can be used to downgrade your iOS from iOS 6 to the iOS 5.1.1 very easily using the RedSn0w 0.9.14b2 or any latest version.

I recommend all of you to go through this process and save shsh blobs because anytime you may come to know the iOS 6 awesome features and you may need to upgrade to iOS 6 and you may forget to save the blobs at that moment.

Note: iOS 6.0 has already been released and you can upgrade by going to Settings => General => Software Update.

Yesterday my son told me that he wants to use Siri on iPad 3 for which he must install the iOS 6 on the new iPad, he was not ready to wait until official release of iOS 6. He was having lots of paid apps which he installed free through Installous and also had plenty of in app purchases which he had done via ZonD80 in app purchase crack. I told him it can be risky and we may loose these paid apps or iPad may sto presponding, but he insisted. Since we have already installed iOS 6 on iPhone 4 few days back after which I posted How To Install iOS 6 on iPhone 4 without UDID and Developer account so we start ed the same way. Everything was OK but when it started loading the update to iPad iTunes was not able to detect the iPad and our worry started after that, after few steps iPad showed that iOS 6 has been installed but while initial setting up it was giving error that iTunes was unable to verify the device with Apple. We decided to try restoring the iPad to 5.1.1 and then try installing the iOS 6 on iPad 3 again. To restore to iOS 5.1.1 we need to put our device in recovery mode.

The time for the release of iPhone 5 is coming closer as speculated on 12 September 2012. The recently leaked images of iPhone 5 front panel, dock connectors and headphone jack are all in line with the previous leaks and news about the new iPhone 5 design. New images of iPhone 5 came from ubreakifix and iResQ that are showing iPhone 5 front panel having 4″ display, centered facetime camera, smaller dock connector and relocated headphone jack on bottom of the iPhone 5.

The bigger sized iPhone is still a question for me because in my opinion the bigger iPhone 5 is not a good idea and still I am thinking Apple may give some surprises with a totally new design other than the rumored images and news etc. After leakage of the above images which confirm the larger sized iPhone 5, there has been further leaked images reported by iResQ, that show the iPhone 5 smaller doc connector and relocated headphone jack exactly fitting the previously leaked (above) images and news on iPhone 5 shape. As mentioned on iclarified via iResQ:

The docking port and headphone jack assembly seemed to fit perfectly inside of the frame. One of our technicians was even able to screw the assembly into the pre-aligned screw holes inside of the frame. All of the threading and screw holes lined up perfectly with the screw holes in then docking port/headphone jack assembly.

I was not believing that I could do it, but it was amazing when my son called me and told that he has installed the iOS 6.0 on his iPhone 4 without the developer account and without a UDID. Yesterday I tried to install iOS 6 on his iPhone 4 and it was stuck and unresponsive, I wasted my two hours and then left it. But my son has done it and it is very simple just follow below steps and you will get iOS beta 4 running on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.

How To Install iOS 6 Beta 4 Free Without Developer Account

First of all you have to update your iTunes to the latest version, you can download iTunes from here or you can click update if iTunes ask for update version on start up.
If your device is on iOS 5.1.1 you can go to step 5 directly and if you have older version you have to restore your device to iOS 5.1.1 as Under:
Download iOS 5.1.1 firmware from iOS firmware download page or from above menu.
Connect your device to your computer run iTunes => Click Restore in iTunes while holding Shift in PC or Alt in Mac. The system will ask for browse now locate iOS firmware which you downloaded in previous step.
Download iOS 6.0 firmware file for your device from this iOS 6.0 download page.
