Downgrade iOS 6 to iOS 5.1.1 [Tutorial]

So you are fed up of the iOS 6.0 after few days of playing with its new features and now you are feeling that iOS 5.1.1 with untethered jailbreak was best option for you and you wish to go back to iOS 5.1.1 and jailbreak it and enjoy your jailbreak apps and tweaks again. If you are a frequent visitor of my blog I warned before the release of the iOS 6 that you should keep you away of the latest iOS update until you are not sure that there is a jailbreak available for next generation of iphone operating system i.e. iOS 6.0 untethered jailbreak, unfortunately the available 6.0 jailbreak is tethered and also its installation itself is a question mark for many new jailbreakers. Also I mentioned in one of my post whether you should upgrade to iOS 6 or not. Now even if you are not a jailbreaker you may have found some issues like battery drain and drops in Wi-Fi signals on the new iPad after you upgrade to 6.0.
iOS 6.0 Downgrade To 5.1.1 iPhone 4 3GS
If you are willing to downgrade your iOS 6 to the previous one which you had or to the nearest one i.e. iOS 5.1.1 and you also followed my previous instructions to save SHSH blobs you are ready to downgrade your idevice from 6.0 to the older versions.
If you don't have saved SHSH blobs then there can be a problem, I have not tried to downgrade without SHSH blobs, because I have not still upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 6.0, but you can try if you save or back up your device to iTunes and try the below downgrade procedure skipping the blobs steps, you may be successful.
Important: Right now iOS 6 downgrade to 5.1.1 is supported for iPhone 4 downgrade and iPhone 3GS 6 to 5.1.1 downgrade.
How To Downgrade iOS 6 to iOS 5.1.1
As I told you are required to use your saved shsh blobs or try without it, so before starting the ios 6 downgrade process you are required to arrange some files which include saved shsh blobs, iOS 5.1.1 firmware ipsw file specific to your device, and redsn0w 0.9.14b2 version which provides downgrade option for ios 6 to 5.1.1 downgrade.
Download 5.1.1 ipsw firmware files for iPhone 4 & 3gs and save on your desktop. Download the redsn0w 0.9.14b2 for Windows or Mac and extract the zip file on your desktop as well.
Steps To Downgrade 6 To 5.1.1
Step 1: The first step you need to perform on your computer at this stage and minimum steps shall be required to be done on your iphone, first of all you have to put your device in direct firmware update mode i.e. DFU mode, after your iphone is in DFU mode open the redsn0w.exe (in the redsn0w window you will see the status of your device as DFU mode), go to Extras => SHSH blobs => Stitch => IPSW the program will now ask for the 5.1.1 ipsw file which you just downloaded in previous step. After clicking open and after the proper ipsw file is identified by the redsn0w you will see the below buttons will be enabled and now you have two options Local & Cydia. If you saved your blobs on your computer you can select local and browse and select the shsh blobs file or you can selecy Cydia if you saved shsh blobs on Cydia server the system will connect and verify automatically. If you don't have saved blobs just put your device in DFU mode and try next steps.
Step 2: If your blobs are found perfect and ipsw file is also compatible the redsn0w now will stitch blobs to the 5.1.1 ipsw file and generate a new custom ipsw file, which if prompted you should save on desktop for easy access and identification. Now on RedSn0w go to Extras => Pwned DFU this step will make your iphone ready for iTunes restore using the custom IPSW, otherwise you will face iTunes error 1600 when working in iTunes later in this tutorial. At this tep limera1n exploiting is done with your device. After this step is complete now you need to go to iTunes and perform the final ios 6 downgrade step.
Step 3: Open the iTunes and immediately a pop up message will inform that iTunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. You must restore this iphone before it can be used with iTunes, this message confirms that the things are going in the right direction and till now you have properly followed the iOS 6 downgrade steps.
Step 4: This is the final step for your downgrade process and it is very easy as well just hold the Shift or Option button on your computer and click on the Restore button in the middle of the iTunes window. The iTunes will ask for ipsw firmware file for restoring browse and select the ipsw file that was stitched by RedSn0w not the one which you downloaded. After you select the file the downgrade or restore process will start and you can see the progress on your iTunes screen on your iPhone screen as well.
iTunes Restore Error -1
If you receive the iTunes error -1 at this stage, the iPhone could not be restored, close the iTunes and go back to RedSn0w => Extras => Recovery Fix just follow screen instructions to put your device in DFU mode again, you will see some progress on redsn0w screen and on your iphone as well but don't worry it is restoring, and your device will be ready. Actually your device may be put in the recovery cycle due to iTunes restore and this step will put your device in normal mode and you will no longer receive error if you run iTunes now and your device will reboot with normal start up screen.
At this moment if you connect your device to iTunes you can restore from backup or restore as a new device. You can go for backup if you need all your apps and settings on your device or you can start your device as it was new one.
