Jailbreak iOS 6.1

Below tutorial is for iOS 6.1 beta 2 jailbreak which is mainly for the developers, so if you are a developer and upgraded to iOS 6.1 you may want to jailbreak 6.1, amazingly the redsnow jailbreak available right now is able to jailbreak iOS 6.1 beta 2 by following the same procedure which was applicable for iOS 6.0.1 jailbreak. But again this 6.1 jailbreak is only compatible with iPhone 3gs and A4 devices.

The latest RedSn0w 6.1 Jailbreak is compatible with iPhone 4, 3GS and iPod Touch 4g. This jailbreaking is tethered except if you have 3GS old bootrom for which it will become untethered iOS 6.1 Jailbreak automatically once you install successfully.

One important thing to note is that you will still need to use ipsw for iOS 6.0 compatible to your device.

How To Jailbreak iOS 6.1 Beta 2

Step 1: Download the latest version of RedSn0w 0.9.15B3 from our free jailbreak download page and extract the zip file preferably on your desktop.

Step 2: Now download iOS 6.0 firmware file specific to your device:

• iPhone iOS 6.0 firmware
• iPod Firmware Download.

Step 3: Put your device in DFU mode by pressing both power and home buttons for 8 seconds and then releasing only power button and holding Home button for further 10 seconds. If your device screen is black it means it is in DFU mode.

Step 4: Connect to computer and Run the redSn0w it will give message that iPhone or iPod detected in DFU mode. If not going in DFU just follow tutorial and you will do it later. In the main redsn0w window go to Extras => Select IPSW redsnow will ask to select ipsw file browse to the file which you saved in step 2 and click Open.

Step 5: Go back to RedSn0w main window and click Jailbreak, program may ask you to put your device in DFU mode if it is not in dfu, just follow the instructions on the screen and on next screen click next when asked just ensure that Install Cydia is selected and click Next. The jailbreak installation will proceed and your device will reboot.

Step 6: Boot Tethered

After jailbreak is done your device will not show the Cydia installed which due to the the fact that this iOS 6.1 Jailbreak is tethered and need this step. In the main redsn0w window click extras => Just Boot => put your device in DFU and let the process complete. After reboot your device is now ready to be used as a jailbroken on iOS 6.1 beta 2.

If you don’t see Cydia on your springboard it means either iOS 6.1 jailbreak was not completed properly or you have not completed the step 6.
