Fix error 1015 in iTunes

How to fix error 1015, this is what many visitors to my blogs are asking. This error 1015 occurs when some one is trying to downgrade, upgrade or restore their device’s firmware. The effected devices include iPhone 4S, 4, 3gs – iPod Touch 3G, 4G – iPad 3, 2, 1.

Below I have given different ways you can fix error 1015 easily and with no further error.

How to fix error 1015 using RecBoot

Step 1: Download RecBoot error 1015 fixer tool by using below download links on your computer.

• Download RecBoot for Mac to fix error 1015
• Download RecBoot for Windows to fix error 1015
• Download RecBoot for Linux to fix error 1015

Step 2: Close the iTunes application if it is running.

Step 3: By following the below steps put your idevice into DFU mode:

• Connect your iPhone with your PC and run iTunes
• Press and hold both power and home buttons for 10 seconds
• After the 10 seconds release only the power button while still holding the home button pressed for another 10 seconds or until you receive a message on iTunes screen.

Step 4: If your device is detected in DFU mode, iTunes will pop up a message as shown below. “iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes”

Step 5: Run the RecBoot tool to fix error 1015 => Click Exit Recovery mode.

After this step you shall be able to restore custom IPSW file or downgrade the firmware without iTunes Error 1015. So this was a simple tool to fix error 1015 in iTunes.

How to fix error 1015 using libUSB

This is an alternative method to fix error 1015.

Step 1: Depending upon your operating system version download 32 bit or 64 bit version of LibUSB from Here.

Step 2: Download Error 1015 Fixer Tool from this site and run the Fix error 1015 tool. Leave the open window as it is.

Step 3: Run iTunes and do the process of restore or upgrade what ever you want, and when you see the error 1015, Go to Error 1015 Fixer Window and click the middle large button on the Error 1015 Fixer Tool which says “Fix My Error” as in below image.
