Jailbreak 5.1 Semi Untethered On iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad (4th Gen) With Redsn0w. Below is the guide on How to jailbreak ios 5.1 This is a semi untethered 5.1 jailbreak therefore you need to boot tethered each time you restart your device. If you want to use an unlock it is highly recommend to stay on iOS 5.0.1. This jailbreak is not for iPad 2 or 3, and the iPhone 4s if these are running ios 5.1
Step 1: Download latest version of RedSn0w 0.9.10b6 by Clicking below links:
Step 2: Extract the zip file and run the RedSn0w.exe file to start the redsn0w jailbreak process.
Step 3: There are two buttons “Extras” and “Jailbreak”, click the first button Jailbreak to jailbreak and install Cydia
Step 4: Connect your iPad 1 into the computer using the USB port. Read instructions on below screen and make sure that your iPad is OFF before clicking the Next button.
You can see on the screen that this jailbreak is also compatible for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 but remember if these are having iOS 5.0.1 and if having iOS 5.1 then it is not compatible.
Step 5: Now you have to put your device in DFU (direct firmware update) mode, just follow the RedSn0w screen instructions and you will do it, if you feel difficulty you can visit this post on How to put your iPad in DFU mode.
Hold down both the Home button and the Power button for 10 seconds.
Release the Power button and continue holding the Home button until RedSn0w detects the device.
Step 6: Just observer the screen message and let it complete until next input screen comes.
Your iPad will now reboot to identify the build.
Now RedSn0w will prepare the jailbreak data.
Step 7: On next screen check Install Cydia from the list of check box options and click Next.
Step 8: iPad will now reboot and RedSn0w will build the jailbreak process and upload ramdisk. The remaining part of jailbreak will take place on your iPad and you can see the RedSn0w icon on the screen with progress bar. After completion of this jailbreak install the iPad will reboot and will have Cydia installed. Now you have to boot it using RedSn0w before you can use the Cydia and Safari.
Step 9: Boot Tethered iPAd1 : Again start the RedSn0w and Select Extras this time.
Step 10: Select Just boot from the Extras menu to just boot tethered right now. The iPad 1 will reboot and now it is tethered jailbroken. You can run Cydia now. Just tap the Cydia icon on your springboard and if it loads it means your jailbreak is successful. If Cydia is not running try reinstalling again from step 1.

Jail breaking is a process of removing the restrictions imposed by Apple on their iDevices. You can use redsnow 0.9.11b4 and Absinthe untethered jailbreak 5.1.1 for jailbreaking your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Jailbreak 5.1.1 will install a program Cydia on your idevice which you can use an app store to download and purchase jailbreak 5.1.1 apps. So you can customize your device for apps, tweaks, cheats, unlocking etc. If a jailbreak is untethered it means you can use your device normally even if restarted which is not in the case of tethered jailbreak.
RedSnow 0.9.11b4 jailbreak 5.1.1 and jailbreak 5.1 is a tethered jailbreak. A tethered jailbreak is one when you need to connect your idevice to PC and use RedSn0w or any jailbreak software to reboot it and if you reboot without tethering it your jailbreak app Cydia and Safari will not work.
Immediately after the release of the new iPad 3 there were many reports and complaints that iPad 3 is having weak WiFi signal problem. In one of my previous post I mentioned how we can temporarily overcome iPad 3 WiFi problem.
These reports were proved true when after going through a number of technical tests on the new iPad 3 TabletPCReview has found that the new iPad’s signals dropped faster and further than any other Apple device. They have conducted these tests on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad 1 and iP ad 3.All devices were tested simultaneously using the Cisco WRT310N 802.11a/b/g/n single channel wireless access point and using the mobile version of SpeedTest up/down test utility.
It is clear from the test results as shown in below graphs that behind three walls the new iPad’s download rate was 0.02 megabits per second compared to 4.14 megabits per second for the iPhone 4S at the same location, although both devices use the same Broadcom BCM4330 chip.
Below is the paragraph from TabletPCReview and the graphs showing results of iPad 3 WiFi Signal Tests:
The tests were done over the space of my house, all on the same floor, at various distances with different numbers of walls in between. Tests were done on two servers, one in Los Angeles 32 miles from me, and one in Ft. Worth, Texas, 1,175 miles away.
When I purchased new iPhone 4 its Personal Hotspot was working well, I used mostly USB cable to connect to the internet from my computer and occasionally needed to use the WiFi. But after I upgraded to iOS 5.0.1, I was unable to connect through Wi-Fi because whenever I tried to discover my iPhone it was not discover-able on my computer (same problem can happen if you upgrade to iOS 5.1 ). When asked from many of my friends they were also having the same problem, also on my blog some people reported the same even the WiFi signals were dropped in some cases.
Note: Recall your WiFi security key if you are connected to any external Wi-Fi connection, because after resetting the network settings you will not be able to connect to external Wi-Fi without network key if it is secure otherwise no problem.
Go to Settings —-> General —-> Scroll down to the end and tap Reset –> Reset Network Settings
Your iphone will restart automatically and below are the steps on How To Turn On the Personal Hotspot:
Go to Settings —> Personal Hotspot —> Select On (Note down the Wi-Fi Password)
Now you can go to your computer and turn on Wi-Fi you will definitely see the name of your iPhone select and click connect and provide the Wi-Fi Password given in your hotspot settings.
If you want to use internet through USB cable you must install iTunes so that your computer can recognize the iPhone. After turning the Hotspot on just connect USB and your computer will connect to internet automatically.
Joshua Hill known as @p0sixninja who was behind theiPhone 4S 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak and iPad 2 untethered jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 has tweeted and stated that he has joined the efforts to jailbreak untethered iPad 3. P0sixninja is part of the Chronic Dev-team and he was the main person behind the Absinthe Greenpoi0n untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S / iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1. From his tweet it seems that he has just bought the new iPad 3 and now he is spending his time on the beach to find out the exploits for ios 5.1 untethered iPad 3 jailbreak.
I already mentioned in my previous posts that i0n1c has successfully got the ios 5.1 ipad 3 jailbreakwhich he has shown in a video that iPad 3 was running Cydia. If you are a regular reader of my blog you know that other exploits to jailbreak iPad 3 are also discovered by MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev-team and Phoenix-dev Frant Paul and Paul Griffin.
Another famous French jailbreaker and hacker Pod2g who was also behind the iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak, is struggling hard to find vulnerabilities to jailbreak iOS 5.1.
The above post is a summary of updates and progress made on ipad 3 iOS 5.1 jailbreak. Join my blog below to get up to date information on jailbreaking, iOS and iDevices.
Some of the new iPad users are facing weak reception of WiFi signals, although mostly don’t face the problem at all. The weak signals sometimes cause slow internet speed. Many blogs are saying this is a kind of software issue and may be resolved with a software update. Below is the solution for the time being:
Note: Please recall your wireless network security key before proceeding.
Solution 1: Reconnect to WiFi Network
Go to Settings —> Select WiFi —> Tap the Blue Arrow to the right of your WiFi connection and Tap Forget this Network
Now tap again the network you want to connect and provide the WEP key to connect again you will see improved WiFi signals.
Solution 2: Reset Network Settings
Go to Settings –> Scroll to the bottom and tap Reset tap Reset Network Settings
Now reconnect to the desired WiFi network
Above two solutions are working with many people and hope will help you also if you are facing problem in WiFi signals.
If you are still facing WiFi signal problem you can visit Apple’s WiFi troubleshooting page for further assistance form Apple or contact your local service center.
